Salon grade. Clinically inspired. Dermatologist developed. Put three masks side by side at three price points and the packaging reads almost identically. The 99 dollar one and the 400 dollar one promise you the same outcome, in the same words, with the same confident glow on the front of the box.
The difference is not in the language. It is in the hardware, and hardware is measurable.
Light therapy is a dose. A dose has a wavelength, an intensity, an area and a duration. Change any one of those and you change what actually lands on your face. Which means a mask can be completely sincere about its promise and still be unable to deliver it, because of the numbers it was built with.
So the useful question is not does red light do anything. It is: what is this specific device putting on my skin, and is the manufacturer willing to print it?
Here are the five numbers worth asking for. Most brands will answer two.

Number one
Wavelength: which colors are actually in there
Not all red light is the same red. The visible red band and the near infrared band behave differently, and near infrared is invisible to you, which is the first trap: a mask that looks brighter is not necessarily the one delivering more.
